Shippers also prefer visibility bundled into a 3PL's broader service offering or integrated within a TMS over maintaining a standalone relationship with a visibility provider.
Providers, recognizing their data gaps, keep compensating with features: new interfaces, predictive algorithms, and in 2026, a pivot toward agentic AI. Key market players now deploy network agents that proactively identify missing or invalid data and work directly with carriers to resolve it. Early adopters report meaningful data quality gains with low friction. Whether agents close the gap or merely paper over it will depend on the same thing as always: what the carriers underneath actually provide.
The more useful shift may be in mindset. The core value of visibility lies in exception management and forecasting, which suggests building visibility around the 5 to 10% of shipments that need a decision rather than around watching every dot on a map.
In these circumstances, the best thing shippers can do is to remain proactive while interacting with visibility providers: both when elevating vendors and communicating any visibility issues that arise with them.
